Malaysian Reinsurance Berhad (Malaysian Re) continues its unwavering commitment to the professional development of the local insurance industry through its flagship initiative, the Programme for Insurance Executives Development (PIED). Held annually, PIED is designed to elevate the capabilities of senior officers and executives within the Malaysian insurance sector with a focus on deepening technical expertise and broadening perspectives across various lines of business.
One of the key highlights of the programme is the dedicated marine insurance module conducted exclusively for PIED participants. This specialised training focuses on the complexities of marine underwriting particularly in the areas of Marine Hull and Protection & Indemnity (P&I) insurance. By offering in-depth exposure to these niche risk portfolios, the module aims to enhance participants’ technical knowledge while reinforcing industry-wide competence and confidence in managing marine risks.
PIED is not only a national initiative. It occasionally welcomes international participants with a keen interest in understanding Malaysia’s unique risk landscape, fostering cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange.
For the second consecutive year, the programme is being held at the AICB Centre of Excellence (ACE), an ideal environment for learning, professional networking, and innovation. Malaysian Re continues to engage industry experts as trainers and speakers and we are proud to acknowledge the longstanding contribution of the CEO of P&I Malaysia, who once again led this year’s marine module.
On 12 August 2025, the CEO of P&I Malaysia delivered a highly anticipated session titled “Intricacies of Hull Underwriting and Market Perspectives.” The session was met with enthusiasm and strong engagement from a diverse audience of insurance practitioners, ranging from emerging professionals to seasoned experts. The training was marked by rich discussions, practical insights, and valuable industry perspectives further reinforcing PIED’s reputation as a premier platform for professional advancement.
As expected, the programme proved to be a hub of learning, dialogue, and connection empowering participants to grow not only as individuals but also as contributors to the broader insurance ecosystem.
P&I Malaysia is honoured to be a part of this initiative and looks forward to continuing its partnership with Malaysian Re in nurturing the next generation of industry leaders.
We extend our congratulations to Malaysian Re for the continued success of PIED and remain optimistic about the collective strides we are making towards a more resilient, knowledgeable and future-ready insurance industry.
