Malaysian World Maritime Day 2016

Malaysia’s celebration of the World Maritime Day (WMD) 2016 was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 5th and 6th October 2016. This year’s theme, as determined by the IMO, is “Shipping-Indispensable to the World”. It is one of the most anticipated event by Malaysia’s Maritime Industry, with active involvement of exhibitors, including P&I Malaysia and the public. In consonance with this year’s theme, speakers from around the globe shared their valuable insights during the conference sessions and very encouraging participation by Malaysia’s maritime industry players in the exhibition displays.

World Maritime Day 2016 in Malaysia is designated to create awareness through the dissemination of information relevant to this year’s theme. The two-day event comprised a 1 1/2 day conference, exhibition, career fair, golf tournament and dinner to propagate the theme to the public via people-friendly means. 

This event is a joint effort between the Malaysian government and the maritime industry. It was organised by the Ministry of Transport and the Marine Department Malaysia (MARDEP) and hosted by Ikhtisas Kelautan (IKMAL) and the Malaysia Shipowners’ Association (MASA).
