LAHAD DATU - A day after its sessions in Sandakan, P&I Malaysia took its Sabah engagement programme to Lahad Datu. The team met the Malaysia Maritime Department Malaysia (MMD) Lahad Datu Branch Office to hear directly from the authority overseeing marine activity in one of the state's busiest east coast districts.
P&I Malaysia was represented by Ms. Affizalina Ramatun, Assistant General Manager (Claims, Risk Management & Internal Audit), who was received by Mr. Hatikullah bin Ahmad Ong, Head of the JLM Lahad Datu Branch Office.
The session focused on how barter trade vessels operate around Lahad Datu and what this means for marine liability protection. The team also visited the area to see local operating conditions firsthand, which gave P&I Malaysia a fuller picture of vessel operations along Sabah's east coast.
