SANDAKAN - P&I Malaysia held engagement session with the Malaysia Marine Department (MMD) Sandakan and the Sabah Ports and Harbours Department (JPDS) Sandakan. The aim was to better understand how barter trade vessels operate in Sabah and what marine liability protection they need.
P&I Malaysia was represented by Mr. Rudy Andrew Jeyaraj, Chief Executive Officer and Ms. Affizalina Ramatun, Assistant General Manager (Claims, Risk Management & Internal Audit). Also present were Mr. Azman Abdul Latip, Head of the Sandakan Marine Branch Office, MMD and Mr. Peter Justine, Assistant Port Officer, JPDS Sandakan.
The discussion covered current developments, operational requirements and matters relating to Protection and Indemnity (P&I) insurance coverage. A field visit was also carried out, giving a closer look at local operating conditions and needs.
The session allowed both sides to exchange views and identify issues that need attention. It also strengthened coordination between P&I Malaysia and the agencies involved.
