The 14th edition Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) was recently held at two exclusive venues ie. Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) for the aerospace exhibition and Resorts World Langkawi (RWL) for the Maritime exhibition. The biennial 5-day event, which started on 21st March 2017, is the largest show of its kind within the Asia Pacific region, showcasing its impressive list of international exhibitors and suppliers. This was brilliantly matched by the supportive presence of industry elites, which range from senior Government officials, military and civil delegates, to industry movers and shakers and more.
This year’s event was proudly officiated by our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, with his speech receiving thunderous applause from the crowd. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai were among those present at this auspicious ceremony.
LIMA’s ultimate ambition was to establish Asia’s ideal platform for industry stakeholders from the international aviation, aerospace, maritime defence and commercial sectors including government decision makers to effectively engage and expand their networks towards forging new partnerships and business agreements.
This jointly organized event by the Defence Ministry and EN Projects (M) Sdn Bhd had an outstanding turnout that bears testimony to LIMA‘s capacity to generate business interest. As the icing on the cake, our Transport Ministry had also taken the liberty to demonstrate their credentials as competent facilitator and enabler for the maritime industry by expertly crafting and displaying an impressive Pavilion housing together its agencies, operators and stakeholders to exhibit, showcase and promote the aviation and maritime industry. This provides a comprehensive overview highlighting the country’s vibrant and ever-growing transport industry. In addition to this, the Ministry had also introduced P&I Malaysia by providing a booth space to exhibit our product brochures, and our very first participation had drawn many interests and enthusiasm from the public.
